Workshops on Rabbinic Texts led by Prof Naomi Koltun-Fromm, Haverford College, May 7 and May 11, 10 am – 12 pm, Senate Room, New College and online

May 7: An Introduction to Rabbinic Texts.

In this workshop we will study a variety of different types of rabbinic texts (mishnah, talmud, midrash, etc) in order to better understand the breadth of the early rabbinic enterprise to create something we now call “rabbinic Judaism.”

May 11: Late Ancient Jews and Christians: Polemic, Resistance and Convergence.

In this workshop we will study a variety of texts from both Jewish and Christian sources that show how late ancient Jews and Christians both thought about, imagined, resisted and even copied the “other” through their exegetical writings.
